Our Story

Every day we are honored to carry out our father, Fred J. Matulay’s motto, “The friendship of those we serve is the foundation of our success.”

F.J.’s spirit and personality lives in everything we do today- who we are, what we stand for, and how we treat every person who walks through our doors.

Not only have we served Naples and the surrounding area for over 40 years, but we’ve been proud to give back to the community in which we live and work by coaching and sponsoring local sports’ teams and other various community organizations.

From the Beginning…

In the 1950’s, Fred was promoted from deliveryman to salesman at a construction supply company in New Jersey. His hard work and dedication paid off and before long he was outpacing the other salesman.

That same determination and drive led him to open FJ Matulay Inc. in the1960’s – a construction supply retail store in Exton, Pennsylvania.

His business thrived through the years, eventually Fred decided to retire and move to Naples, Florida in search of warmer weather and a new adventure with his wife and two younger children in 1973.

Retirement didn’t last long, and Fred partnered with Stanley Equipment in 1975, which in time, he bought out and created our company Matulay’s Contractor’s Supply.

One of the most important things in Fred’s life was his family and friends.

We are a third generation family operated family business, now run by Ed and Audrey Matulay, along with Ed’s youngest son, Kyle Matulay.  Being a family business gives us far more flexibility to serve each customer the best way we know how, personally with a one-on-one connection with each person who walks through our door.
